In 2021, a team of innovators joined forces and MetaLigna Modular Inc. was forged from their excellence. MetaLigna, partnered with SNC-Lavalin-PAE Inc., rose to answer the Canadian government's call during the COVID-19 pandemic. In just 16 weeks, we designed and manufactured the first Health-Canada-approved, 100- bed mobile hospital unit (the MHU). This fully-functioning ICU, built to handle patient-overflow during disasters, can be transported on a C-10 plane, a train, a boat, or freighted by truck. The MHU is also re-packageable, so it can be re- deployed to other locations in need of emergency medical services.

Building on our success, in 2022, MetaLigna acquired a 15,800 m2 (170,000 sf) facility in Arnprior, ON, and added a new line of five modular products to our design-manufacture catalogue. By Q4 of 2022, we were designing larger modular homes, including multi-residential homes, and Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU). Our smallest footprint ADU, the Piccolo, was featured at the 2023 Ottawa Home and Garden Show. Our latest model, the Medio, is suitable for use as either an ADU or modular home and slated to go into production in 2024.
